Research has shown that lifestyle programs are only meaningful if the focus is on less sitting and not just more exercise. An hour of exercise in the evening does not compensate for sitting still all day. If we then consider the fact that the average worker spends about 8 hours per day sitting down, you can probably better imagine the focus on sitting less. If the user sits less and stands/ walks more, the chance of developing physical and mental complaints (such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, overweight, back pain, (over)fatigue, stress sensitivity, burnout. etc.) is considerably less. Moreover, this results in a lower mortality.

Only by making employees aware of the negative consequences of prolonged sitting they will be inclined to sit down less. The negative health effects are often long-term. They are not directly confronted with the negative consequences of current behaviour, which means that the threshold for change is high. Moreover, excessive sitting is a habit. Changing habitual behaviour requires behavioural change. To be able to change a person's behaviour, the person must be aware of his or her behaviour. This awareness will prompt one to consider change. At the beginning, we are all literally in the denial phase, so we need a tool that provides insight into our seating behaviour.
