Take a seat on the Backapp chair. Using the edge at the back of the seat you can feel whether you are sitting correctly: you must be able to feel the edge with your buttocks.

The next step is to adjust the height of the Backapp chair. Adjust the height in such a manner, that your feet are able to rest flat on the Backapp base ring. The upper legs should be at an open angle to the upper body (± 120-130 °).

The weight of your upper body should be evenly distributed on the seat of the chair. To check this, make sure there is a straight, vertical line from your ear, through the shoulder to the hip.

You can now use the Backapp chair. We advise not to use the ball for the first 2 weeks. The body has to get used to the new sitting position. Some muscle pain may occur in the beginning, as you are now sitting active (as opposed to before). The occurrence of muscle pain is natural and will disappears by itself. If this occurs, you can set up a time scheme and use the Backapp a little bit longer every day.

It is important that you adjust the height of your desk correctly. A desk set too high or low can lead to physical symptoms. We recommend you to sit with an angle of around 90° in the elbow, with relaxed shoulders.

After the habituation period, you can turn out the ball, so the chair becomes unbalanced. We advise you to turn out the ball one stroke a week. The goal is to balance on the ball, not on the ring.

Do you want more challenge? That is possible: turn the ball further out. You will find that you consume more calories, your concentration will be better, you’ll have more energy and develop stronger muscles.
